Hasidim

A Jewish diaspora community living in Brooklyn, known for its exceptionally strict and conservative way of life.

The Hasidim are descendants of Eastern European Jews and speak Yiddish — a language that has largely disappeared outside their community. The movement emerged in the 18th century as a new branch of Judaism, rooted in a mystical synthesis of the Talmud and Kabbalah.

Today, their connection to Kabbalah is minimal, and their focus remains on the Talmud and a deeply traditional moral code. They live within a closed community, maintaining only limited contact with the wider population of New York.
